If you’re going to launch a western-inspired clothing line bearing someone’s name, who better than George Strait?
Strait, 60, is the acknowledged King of Country after more than three decades of dominance in the music industry. He’s sold more than 70 million albums, with an unprecedented 59 No. 1 country singles.
When not recording or playing music, Strait lives at his Texas ranch and is a card-carrying member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association as a team roper.
For almost a decade, Drysdales has carried both shirts and jeans from Wrangler’s George Strait line.
Joe Broyles, merchandising manager at Wrangler, said the brand had already enjoyed a long relationship with Strait for more than a decade. So it seemed natural in 2003 to launch the George Strait Cowboy Cut Collection. Strait and Wrangler’s product teams now collaborate on the designs for the line.
“With the George Strait Cowboy Cut Collection, we’re able to incorporate Strait’s clean, classic cowboy style into a premium line of jeans and shirts,” Broyles said. “His timeless style – the clothes he wears on stage and in everyday life – is evident in each item in the line, offering a unique collection any King of Country fan can appreciate.”
George Strait men’s western shirts come in a variety of eye-catching but dignified plaids, patterns, or prints. All of them come with at least one pocket, western yokes, and button-adjustable cuffs. (Click on the image for more information about each product.)
One of the signatures of the George Strait line is the embroidery design over the left pocket — a Texas Lone Star surrounded by a lasso. It serves as a nod to Strait’s native state and his love of competitive roping.
Leighan Gearhart, buyer of men’s clothing at Drysdales, also noticed another impressive aspect of George Strait shirts.
“They use a better fabric,” she said. “They’re in a higher thread count, and it has a better feel to the customer. It’s just more luxurious and nicer.”
Drysdales also stocks several men’s jeans from the George Strait line. They come with leg openings that accommodate western boots, the famous Wrangler patch on the back, and the familiar Wrangler “W” stitching on the back pockets. (Click on the image for more product information.)
George Strait jeans also feature the embroidered logo over the watch pocket.
Frank Lambert, jeans buyer at Drysdales, noted that George Strait jeans use brass rivets in the fabric stress points, instead of the copper rivets in Wrangler jeans. Lambert also says George Strait jeans come in better-grade fabric.
“Everything’s upgraded a tad with those jeans,” Lambert said.
Don’t forget — we also offer George Strait boys shirts and jeans as well.
Due to the greater attention to quality and dignified style, you can buy George Strait clothing with confidence. If it’s got his name on it, you know it will be good.
